Helen Lawrence

Helen died at Ipswich Hospital on 9 March 2015 after a short illness at age 88. She is sadly missed by all her family and many friends. Helen moved to Felixstowe from Ireland in 2013 with husband Pat to be nearer her family. Because of poor health, Helen had lots of time for one of her favourite hobbies: knitting. She would knit jumpers, cardigans and other outfits for children by the dozen and gave them all to the St. Elizabeth Hospice shop in Felixstowe. Please make a donation to the hospice in her memory. Helen was born in the west of Ireland in 1926 and moved to the UK in 1947. There she met and married Patrick Lawrence and together they travelled the world following his postings with the RAF. She had a varied career, working at times as a cook, dental nurse, secretary and bookkeeper, while also having three daughters, Paula, Caroline and Bernadette. Following retirement, Helen and Pat returned to Ireland in 1988 and lived happily in the town of Mount Bellew. In 2013, they moved back to the UK and settled in Felixstowe close to their family. Helen loved nothing more than cooking for her friends and family, knitting, sewing and pottering in the garden. She organized the senior citizen's club in Mount Bellew for many years and always ensured the church altar was beautifully decorated. She was a true pillar of the community and her door was always open to friends and strangers alike.
